House rules

Dear guest,

our house rules are listed below. Please read them carefully and follow them.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE

Booked rooms are available to the customer from 4 p.m. on the agreed day of arrival. The customer is not entitled to earlier availability. Unless a later arrival time has been expressly agreed or the room has been prepaid, Universität Würzburg GmbH has the right to reallocate booked rooms after 6 p.m. without the customer being able to derive a claim against Universität Würzburg GmbH from this. On the agreed day of departure, the rooms must be vacated and made available to the University of Würzburg GmbH by 9.00 a.m. at the latest. After this time, the University of Würzburg GmbH may charge 50% of the full price for the additional use of the room until 6 p.m. and 100% of the full price from 6 p.m. onwards, in addition to any damages incurred by the customer as a result. The customer is at liberty to prove to the University of Würzburg GmbH that no or significantly less damage has been incurred.

On departure, the room must be left in an orderly condition; the guest is required to wash any dishes and cutlery removed and return them to the kitchen, dispose of the garbage, remove their own utensils and food from the fridge, cupboards and cupboards and remove the bed linen. If the room is not returned in the agreed condition, additional charges may be levied retrospectively for increased cleaning costs. Housekeeping must be contacted at least three days before departure for organizational clarification.

KEY CARD

For security reasons, your key card will be deactivated if it is not used regularly. We recommend reactivating your key card daily at the locking system at the main entrance. In case of loss, please contact our house service and the Technical Maintenance Center of the University immediately. Please note that we charge €30 for lost key cards.

  • House service telephone number: +49 931 31-80990
  • Technical Maintenance Center telephone number: +49 931 318 444 4

In general, we ask you to ensure that the main entrance remains locked at all times.

TREATMENT OF THE RENTAL ITEM

The pictures hanging on the walls of the premises and rented rooms in Welz-Haus may not be taken down. It is also prohibited to move the furniture in the room or to drill holes in the walls. Furthermore, no equipment, such as fitness bars, may be attached to door frames or pieces of furniture, as this could damage them.

The tenant is responsible for cleaning the room.  In particular, the microwave must be cleaned with a damp cloth after each use.

In the event that a guest spills liquids on the floor (whether in their own room or outside the room elsewhere in the Welz-Haus) or soils it in any other way, the guest is obliged to clean this up themselves. Spilling or emptying chlorine-containing agents on the wooden floor is strictly prohibited.

The University of Würzburg GmbH respects the responsible use of resources. For this reason, environmentally friendly behavior is expected when it comes to water consumption and heating. Water should be used sparingly - especially when showering, washing hands and washing dishes. Radiators should only be used when they are actually needed and should not be set unnecessarily high. The maximum tolerable room temperature is 21 degrees.

No hygiene articles, in particular sanitary towels or tampons, may be thrown into the toilet. Any blockages and resulting damage will be charged to the guest.

VENTILATION

In the interests of your health, we ask you to ventilate your room (bathroom and bedroom) at least twice a day (morning and evening) for 15 minutes. Ventilation is essential after showering to ensure sufficient air circulation and prevent mold growth. Windows should only be opened for ventilation. It is forbidden to lean out of windows, use window sills as seats or throw objects out of the window.

In addition, please do not place suitcases against the outside walls in winter. This can lead to mold growth. Always air the kitchen after use. All windows must be closed again after ventilation.

When ventilating, always make sure that the radiators are turned down beforehand to avoid energy losses. These measures not only serve to protect the environment, but also help to reduce energy and operating costs. These regulations apply to the rooms as well as the communal areas and premises.

TAP WATER

The tap water in the Welz-Haus can be used for consumption without hesitation. The quality of the water meets the highest standards in Germany and the water pipes in the Welz-Haus are all as good as new. We therefore ask you to refrain from buying packaged water in order to avoid waste.

AUTOMATIC WATER FLUSHING

Please note that for technical reasons all bathrooms in our guest house are equipped with an automatic water flushing system. The system is activated automatically for three minutes every 24 hours. The system cannot be deactivated.

HOUSEHOLD UTENSILS

The following utensils are not part of the regular equipment in your room: Cleaning and washing products, dishwashing sponge, dishcloth, washing-up liquid, bin liners, soap and toilet paper. All items are available at low prices in the nearby supermarket: Edeka Wehnert, Kaiserstraße 5, 97070 Würzburg

LOUNGE

The communal lounge is generally available to all guests. However, it cannot be guaranteed that the lounge is freely accessible at all times, as internal events, meetings or special uses occasionally take place there. In such cases, use may be temporarily restricted or not possible. Information about planned events will be provided in good time as far as possible.

COMMUNITY KITCHEN

On the first floor, all guests have access to a communal kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a stove and dishwasher as well as additional crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. We ask you to return cutlery and crockery to the communal kitchen and put them in the dishwasher. Cooking utensils such as pans, pots, spatulas etc. must always remain in the kitchen and may not be taken to the room. Used dishes, cutlery and all cooking utensils must be cleaned after use or placed in the dishwasher. The stove, oven, kitchen surfaces and microwave must also be cleaned independently and must not be left unattended. We ask for appropriate coordination between guests and mutual consideration. The stove and oven should only be in use for the necessary duration of the cooking or baking process and should be switched off immediately after use in order to avoid unnecessary energy consumption and the associated costs. The kitchen must be ventilated after each use.

Please refer to the information board for instructions on use and timetables. Please inform our house service of any damage. House service telephone number: +49 931 31-80990

On the first floor, all guests have access to a fully equipped utility room. The equipment includes a washing machine, tumble dryer, two laundry baskets, clothes horse and an iron and ironing board. Our utility room also provides cleaning products for cleaning the communal kitchen. We ask that you only use the appliances in the utility room. We ask for appropriate coordination between guests and mutual consideration. When using the washing machine, the washed damp clothes should be removed as quickly as possible. If wet clothes are repeatedly left in the drum for a longer period of time after using the washing machine, authorization to use the appliance will be withdrawn.

We expect all guests to behave considerately towards their fellow residents - regardless of origin, religion, ideology, gender, sexual orientation or other personal characteristics. Discrimination, insults or intolerant behavior will not be tolerated. Mutual tolerance, helpfulness and an open, respectful dialog are expressly desired and contribute to a positive coexistence. Overnight stays by visitors are only permitted by prior arrangement with housekeeping. Additional costs will be incurred for the provision of additional bed linen, towels and bath towels as well as for overnight stays. It is prohibited to invite strangers and hold celebrations on the premises of the Welz-Haus without prior agreement. Such uses are recorded under events and must be registered and paid for.

In case of violation, especially if a fire alarm is triggered or smoke detectors are tampered with, the house is not liable for any costs, e.g. fire department or other security services. These are to be settled directly on site by the person responsible. If it is discovered that the guest smokes or has smoked in the room, a special cleaning fee of €100 will be charged. This serves in particular to remove odors and, if necessary, to repaint the affected areas.
