Welcome to the Welz House

The historic Welz House is located in the heart of the university city of Würzburg. After extensive renovations, the former 18th-century hospital now serves as a residence for international visiting scholars and their families.



Located in close proximity to the main train station and the faculties of the University of Würzburg, the Welz-Haus offers comfortable rooms, a private lecture hall and a central yet quiet location.


For longer stays, you will receive a discount on the regular accommodation price.

The discount will be automatically applied at checkout. Prices may vary depending on the season.



Please note that from March 2026 until approximately summer 2027, there will be a major construction site in the immediate vicinity of the Welz House. This may result in increased noise levels during the day, particularly in rooms 104, 206, 207, 208, 305, and 306, as well as in the lecture hall. This potential disruption has already been factored into the pricing.

Important information and frequently asked questions

  • Check-in and check-out times

    Check-in is possible from 4:00 PM. Check-out should take place no later than 8:00 AM on the day of departure.

  • Information about the key card

    The key card for access to the Welz House and your room is located in one of the key boxes directly to the left of the main entrance. You will receive the code for the corresponding key box by email shortly before your arrival.

  • How does the pricing system work?

    Accommodation prices are automatically calculated based on the set daily rate and the length of stay. You benefit from discounts for longer stays as well as seasonal reductions.

  • How does the booking process work?

    You can easily submit a booking request for your desired accommodation online. After receiving your request, we will review it and send you a confirmation as soon as possible. Your booking is only binding once you have received a booking confirmation from our team.

  • What parking options are available on site?

    There is no parking available directly at the Welz House. However, the large "Talavera" parking lot is nearby and can be used free of charge. It is about a 20-minute walk from the Welz House.
